Conferences – Workshops – Presentations

Participated in the VIVA Learning Objects Portal Planning Summit held at the University of Virginia on June, 8 2007 with John Ulmschneider, the University Librarian for Virginia Commonwealth University. This technology planning session for VIVA libraries across Virginia was attended by invitation only.

Organized a Celebration of Women’s History featuring speaker Susan Scanlan (Class of ’69) who is the chair of the National Council of Women’s Organizations and the president of the Women’s Research and Education Institute. This event was held March 23, 2006.

Presented concurrent session titled “She Knows Her Own Mind” for the 9th Annual Student Leadership Conference at Sweet Briar College on February 18, 2006.

Organized a Pre-conference session with Judy Luther of Informed Strategies for the Charleston Acquisitions Conference titled “Serving Our Users – the Value of Usability.” Featured speakers included Chris Farnum from ProQuest, Barbara Lange from IEEE, Beth LaPensee from JSTOR and Richard Gedye from Project Counter. This session was held November 5, 2003.

DuPont PACE Grant in the amount of $6000 to develop a ContentDM database from Sweet Briar archives to enhance the Gifts of Speech Project for school years 2007-2009.

Verizon Foundation Technology Initiative Grant in the amount of $3000 from the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges to develop and teach three seminars titled Beginning and Intermediate Courses in Web Site Construction and Design - Summer 2000

President’s Planning Committee Grant in the amount of $5500 for three years for development of the Gifts of Speech web site - Spring 1999

Three grants from the Sweet Briar College Fund for the Interdisciplinary Studies in Humanities in the amounts of $1000 dated March 1, 1997; $1750 dated May 15th 1997 and $2050 dated May 15, 1998.
